Senator Sean Barrett Press Release on the DoB/Catherine Murphy issue

Press release from the independent Senator
Sen. Sean D. Barrett
Independent, University of Dublin (Trinity College) Constituency, Seanad Éireann

I note today the ongoing controversy over statements made in Dáil Éireann by Deputy Catherine Murphy on the 28th of May 2015. While I make no comment on the statements of Deputy Catherine Murphy I will state that the current approach taken to reporting, even verbatim and without any form of commentary her statements in the Dáil is a matter for deep concern. Under Article 15, sections 12 and 13 of Bunreacht na hÉireann the utterances and the reproduction of those utterances are protected by parliamentary privilege. The actual text is below:
12 All official reports and publications of the Oireachtas or of either House thereof and utterances made in either House wherever published shall be privileged.
13 The members of each House of the Oireachtas shall, except in case of treason as defined in this Constitution, felony or breach of the peace, be privileged from arrest in going to and returning from, and while within the precincts of, either House, and shall not, in respect of any utterance in either House, be amenable to any court or any authority other than the House itself.
I call on the Attorney General to clarify the present interpretation of the above sections with respect to the statements made by Deputy Catherine Murphy on the 28th of May 2015. I would further recommend that the various media organizations and outlets governed by the legal principles outlined in Bunreacht na hÉireann not shirk their responsibility to maintain an informed citizenry, the cornerstone of any mature and functional democracy.

What about the other Inequalities in Irish Life

Last saturday we made a little bit of History with a "yes" vote to end social inequality for the LGBT community of our society. It felt as if the nation had become engulfed in a revitalising  breath of fresh air blown in on an atlantic breeze. However, we also know that behind the freshness of that breeze, lies many a dark cloud .
What the election appeared to say was that Ireland believes in equality or was it just a smokescreen?
Remember hidden behind that screen lie steep craggy mountains and to reach the crest of those peaks we have to overcome:-
Financial and economic discrimination for all, bar the few elite financial terrorists who have free reign to use and abuse all members of our society.
Legal discrimination against many sectors of the community
Criminal bankers freely roaming the cities, highways and byways of Ireland.
A police force at the beck and call of government and private enterprise

Lone parents living in terror by the coming impairment to lone parent support.
The list is endless … Cuts in education, hospital services, education, housing, welfare benefits, homelessness and so on .
We live in a land where the government will take your money and basically hand it over to legalised criminals like the IMF and the ECB, …. They in turn will hand over payments to covert vulture capitalists lurking in the background.
Remember the people in charge of the inequality agenda are Kenny and Burton - Will they make a difference? I sincerely believe, “yes” is the answer to that question. The downside to that ‘yes” is that it will not be in the citizens favour.
The next general election should boil down to two simple questions  - do you want equality or inequality.
The choice is stark and simple and an absolute no brainer intelligence test for the nation.
Damn it I fear the worst.

The Republic of Balderdash

Everything our Government does is complete and utter tosh, total nonsense, borders on the ridiculous and gives sustenance to all that is utter bollocks. I wonder what has happened to substantive action to enhance the lives of it citizens. The only expertise I see from the current clowns in Sinister House is there ability to enhance the misery of its  electorate.

FG/LAB - The regressive March to oblivion

The 19th century theorist Louis-Auguste Blanqui wrote:-"Humanity," "is never stationary. It advances or goes backwards. Its progressive march leads it to equality. Its regressive march goes back through every stage of privilege to human slavery, the final word of the right to property." Further, he wrote, "I am not amongst those who claim that progress can be taken for granted, that humanity cannot go backwards."

Is Ireland on a regressive march - Everything that is happening in the country would seem to indicate a yes answer.

Are FG Neoliberal Fanatics out to Ruin the Country

So it would seem given the way they have taxed the working man, cut welfare, neglected the most vulnerable groups in our society and slowly but surely undermined the basics of democracy.
We need an alternative to turn the pages of austerity, revive the economy, create jobs, and restore hope to the county.
Time to take a little inspiration from the French revolution
“When the government violates the people’s rights then insurrection is, for the people and for every section of the people, the most sacred of their rights and the most indispensable of their duties.” Marquis de Lafayette, 1790

Trust Me

FG/LAB
Both parties state good Government is impossible as they have to devote too much time, to playing pigs in the through… Noonan says trust me, this is the way to go…. Varacker says trust me, this is the way forward...Alan Kelly says it's a lifestyle choice, trust me ...Joan Burton says trust me I see no conflict with Labour party policy … Enda Kenny says trust me, promises are made to be broken.

Mini Seed Brains Grown by Scientists in UCD Lab

In a Beacon Hospital sponsored experiment called “Linda Penny” scientists in UCD have cloned the brains of sitting FG/FF TD’s from Mayo, Cork and Dublin. This achievement they hope will eventually fix restive social neurological disorders such as non compliance to the defined social norm as set out by the department of justice under the guidance of the troika and other well qualified institutions such as Goldman Sachs, the CIA, the World Trade Organisation and the IMF.
Scientist claim the insights from this ongoing research are quite remarkable and give valuable insights to the capabilities of sitting FF/FG TD’S. They found that the development of the thought process in these subjects was rigidly restrained and that lateral and forward thinking was virtually nonexistent. However on the other hand the findings highlighted that these individuals had a high regard for their egos and self interest and by and large acted on the spur of the moment. It was stated that they were quite close to cloning an evolutionary successor to Enda Kenny
In addition, they hope this research will lead to cures for more serious brain disorders and that ultimately it will bring relief and happiness to protesters, malingerers and psychotic TD’s like Catherine Murphy, Clare Daly, Mick Wallace, Boyd-Barrett, Paul Murphy, etc

The Minister for health thanked the Beacon Hospital for sponsorship of this research and stated that the results very much concurred with his own thoughts.

Thoughts from the Dark Side

Last night I had a dream
I dreamt the impossible became the possible
The top 50 people who bankrupt the country all got jail
In unison they said, this sentence is a big surprise to me, I did nothing wrong.
Ah, happy dreams

Noonan insists banks will feel pressure over variable rates

More bluster from the clown of nonsense
The only pressure the bankers would feel would be a stint in Jail

A thought from Last Night

A thought from Last night
Labour are a party who are no longer true to their founding principles.
They are a bit like a band whose first album “Connolly” was invigorating. The second album Larkin was sensational. Their third album O'Brien marked the decline.
From there on in it has been downhill ever since.

Time for the unions to severe all links with the labour party in its current, sell out neoliberal format.

The semi state agency Mordida & Baksheesh  will supervise the vetting of outsourced personnel to run and organize the classes.

Christine Lagarde of the IMF  praised the minister for his creativity and saw this measure as a significant step in reducing Ireland’s debt burden and that other financially stricken countries should follow Ireland's excellent initiative in this area.
a Pharmaceutical Industry spokesperson said they had severe reservations about the ministers scheme and have requested a meeting to discuss the matter further.
The Undertakers Association gave a broad welcome to the  ministers plan and hoped that it would rejuvenate, what was a dying trade.

Lucinda Creighton who was attending a “Resuscitation” conference criticized the government for not lowering the age to 60  - she said this was a missed opportunity  to cut out dead wood.
Jerry Adams in a statement said the Government was going to ridiculous lengths and that his party had the means to deal with this problem, in a much more expedient manner.
Joan Burton - said she saw no conflict with current labour party policy.
